When Jordan Brand decided to tap the creative mind of Awake founder Angelo Baque, few could have expected to see the pair work on the Air Ship. Whilst other silhouettes are known for their cultural crossover, the Air Ship is where the whole story began. Known as the shoe Nike put Michael Jordan in before the Jordan 1 was ready, the Air Ship's legacy is one to be remembered and honoured.
Working with Jordan, Baque took the colour palette of white and blue then put an Awake spin on it. The uppers feature snakeskin-effect leather, a hint towards the street influence which would come to define the Jordan franchise whilst the tumbled leather and metallic silver feel familiar to anyone across the other big Nike shoe in NYC—Air Force 1s.
